June 24, 2024

Monday on to a new week with Zone council in the parking lot at Maplewood building!  It was a beautiful summer day but by 4:30 I was frozen!

A lot of sunshine, in fact no dark now at all but not much heat!  We had a great meeting and get to see our leaders in action! FHE that night was swimming and games at little Campbell lake!  These Alaskans are tough and quite a few young men got in the water!  Too cold for my taste!  Had 30 kids there! It was advertised as both groups but when the polys showed up there wasn’t enough room for volleyball net so they went to Kincaid park!  We went over and watched a while! They had 25 to 30 kids too!  Lorna a poly and London are the FHE leaders and are doing great this summer!

Tuesday we opened the institute and Gary was not okay. We tried to work on our lesson but he needed to sleep! I had some sewing to do! Took in a shirt for Elder Worley and had Cherish come to try on her wedding dress before I put the sleeves in!  She seemed real happy with what I had done so far! New plans at institute for missionaries to not have access all the time! So they will only be there with us I guess!  By night Gary felt really bad so change of plans!  He was going to do. Session with me working wed morning at the temple!  So I left him in bed and he slept most of the day!  I ran errands and had my zoom call with my girls and then we tried to work on our lesson for institute the next night!

Thursday morning I woke up with sore throat and head ache and Gary was worse not better!  We couldn’t get Justin until afternoon and he was out of town. He asked Patti to sub for us but she was at work and couldn’t pull it off so we cancelled class!  It was a bummer cause everyone didn’t get word on such late notice.  We were both feeling bad enough we didn’t care a lot.  Bed all day Friday and Saturday. Pretty bad stuff.  Gary is still pretty bad today so called our Dr and got a bunch of meds. I felt better enough yesterday to go to church and help with the linger longer!  We had over 100 kids so that was great!!just did brownie Sundays but gives kids a chance to stay and mingle!  It thrives in summer with working kids with tourism and college kids home!

Summer is here! I am out on our deck and it is pleasant!  In the seventies for the week so we will take it!  We plan to enjoy every minute of this season and give it our all!!(if we can just get well!) grateful to be serving in this beautiful place with amazing people!
