June 2 2024

So the big event this week was Gary’s cancer surgery on Thursday morning! They got all the cancer in one cut so we weren’t there very long but still a long cut down his nose! Some pain but mostly dread I think!  We took Thursday off! That was about it!

The rest of the week was sort of normal! We had a district breakfast Monday before council so ed up spending a lot of the day with them!  More we are together the more we appreciate these young missionaries.  Asked our district leader to give Gary a blessing on Tuesday because transfers were happening and half our district left!  So Tuesday sister Watanobe and Currier came to do a picture of us and make bread with me on her new kitchen aide!  Also Cherish, a friend of theirs came for me to start on fixing her. Wedding dress!  The Elders came and gave us both blessings!  Very thoughtful and faithful blessings! We very much appreciated them!!  It was a fruitful day and we were grateful for it!

Monday was Memorial Day and even though we really don’t do holidays we went for a ride on base that evening to the national cemetery and the flags and flowers were so beautiful and peaceful! Rode around a bit to explore! Thankyou Kuerths for getting us a two month pass before you left!!!

I was able to do initiatory and two sessions in the temple Wednesday cause working and Gary and I went back in the evening!  Thus is a special temple to me because it is so small everyone knows each other! It feels very personal! I am very grateful to work there.

Friday and Saturday we ran errands , prep work for institute FHE, I made dessert for linger longer for today. It was 8  x the recipe and it took all afternoon! Gary even did the cookie crumbling!!  Then we went for a walk down by th ocean! Beautiful park and neighborhood!! We were walking until after 10:00. Of course the sun was still up and we were in sweat shirts!! This is Alaska!! The green is brilliant and flowers everywhere!

Gary even came today in spite of bandage!  We had a great fast meeting with over 100 kids there!  A great meal after to break our fast. After cleaning up etc we went to north stake seminary graduation! Which was really good! Only three grads but a good meeting!  It’s amazing how the work goes on inspite of problems!  I know our Heavenly Father is good with effort!!we try as do all leaders here! We love them— grateful to be here in the trenches!! We know this work is of God!  We love HIM!
